2008 Earth Day Clean-Up
April 19th, 2008

This years' earth day clean up did not get quite the response we hoped for.  While there were some very hard working citizens out there helping us clean up our town, there were not as many as we expected.  This worthwhile event helps keep our lake and streets clean for ourselves as well as our visitors.

The CCDA will be holding another community clean up some time in September and we are hoping more of our members and residents will find the time to help us.  Please check back for dates and times. Or send us an email with a request to be notified when we have the next clean up scheduled!

History of our clean-ups

The first monthly CCDA community cleanup was held in 1997. Local citizens met to decide if there was an interest in forming a community development organization and a survey was sent out to Crestline and surrounding residents. Almost 500 questionnaires were returned and high on the list was a desire for the beautification of our town. The newly formed CCDA had no money, but lots of heart and volunteers. The first project would be a second Saturday of the month clean up which continues today.

CCDA members and volunteers met at the Goodwin’s parking lot at 9 a.m. and fanned out to the major streets in town. The CCDA provided safety vests, trash bags and hauls it all away.

Since then we have seen our response diminish to just a few folks each month.  We have decided to make better use of our time by have two large clean-ups a year - Earth Day and Fall (after the summer residents take a break) to make our town a beautiful place and meet new friends.
